Marcus Bolitho (L) and Will Gold (R) join Goodhart to help spearhead global equity boutique growth

  • Marcus Bolitho becomes a Partner and Head of Marketing

  • Will Gold becomes a Partner and Head of Investment Marketing

LONDON – 16 April 2025.  Goodhart Partners LLP (‘Goodhart’) and Bold Partners (‘Bold’) are pleased to announce the appointment of Bold Co-Founders, Marcus Bolitho and Will Gold as Individual Members of Goodhart. With immediate effect, Marcus Bolitho becomes Head of Marketing and Will Gold becomes Head of Investment Marketing at Goodhart.

This development combines the pair’s extensive experience of helping to position and grow both established and boutique asset management businesses into market leaders, with the extraordinary potential of the expanding Goodhart team.

Originally founded in 2009, Goodhart is a global equities boutique with a clear strategy to build a forward-looking asset manager, uniquely designed to address the challenges and seize the opportunities investors look set to encounter over the next decade and beyond. In pursuit of this goal, Goodhart has already made significant strides towards building a team of remarkable experience and depth of expertise, as evidenced by a series of high-profile announcements in recent months. Oversight and governance are led by the Board, whose members are Alan Bartlett, Dr Sandy Nairn, Peter Taylor, and Gary Tuffield.

Gary Tuffield, Partner at Goodhart, commented: “At Goodhart, we recognise that great businesses are created by talented individuals who bring differing specialisms and insights, and who fundamentally trust and respect each other. Having worked previously with Marcus and Will, over many years, not only do I have a huge amount of admiration for both of them, but I know the quality and talent that they bring to our organisation. We are very fortunate to be able to attract them to Goodhart as we bring our proposition to market over the coming months.

“These appointments are yet another strong signal that we are serious about developing our firm and building strategies designed directly to address the very different economic and market environment we believe the world has entered. We’re tremendously excited to engage with investors; our ability to be known and recognised for our differentiated investment approach, and to communicate our distinctive narrative, is going to be key to doing so successfully.”

Marcus Bolitho added: “Opportunities to help build truly distinctive asset management firms from the inside are rare. In Goodhart, I believe both Will and I can contribute meaningfully to the development and growth of a firm with the potential to meet a very clear need in the marketplace, namely for a truly agile, forward-looking approach to investment. I have thoroughly enjoyed building Bold Partners and supporting our clients, so I’m extremely pleased to be able to continue to collaborate with Will, and to re-join Gary professionally.”

Will Gold concluded: “I have been hugely impressed by the whole Goodhart team, with each individual exuding deep expertise, enthusiasm and intellectual curiosity. I firmly believe that this will be a crucial combination of qualities if investors are successfully to navigate a much more challenging and uncertain landscape. To be invited to join a boutique that is building such a strong and broad team is tremendously exciting. Both Marcus and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the many people who helped us to launch Bold Partners. We’re both proud of what we achieved, and are especially grateful to our clients for putting their faith in us to advise them.”

About Goodhart Partners LLP

Goodhart Partners LLP (“Goodhart”) is an independent, London-based global equity investment boutique that offers a range of strongly differentiated investment strategies, concentrated on public markets.

Originally founded in 2009, since the return to Goodhart of Alan Bartlett and Sandy Nairn from Franklin Templeton, and the joining of Gary Tuffield in 2023, the firm has been focused on developing investment strategies for an economic and market landscape that it believes will bear little, if any, resemblance over the coming decade and beyond to the one that has prevailed over the last 15 years.

Goodhart holds a minority stake in Asset Value Investors (“AVI”), a UK-based boutique with a distinctive, long-only, value approach focused on good quality, neglected securities trading at a discount to their NAV. AVI manages £1.8bn in AUM as at 31/01/25.

In 2023, Goodhart announced a strategic relationship with Global Opportunities Trust plc ("GOT"), through which Goodhart provides investment sub-advisory services to assist GOT in managing its global listed equity exposure.

Goodhart has AUM of £552m as at 31/01/25, and is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
